Subject: Web Access : DOMCFG.NSF - Expired Password Error Message
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Customization
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Always

Hi there -- I have DOMCFG.nsf deployed on a client site. Based on the Domino Web Server Configuration template ( domcfg5.ntf ). We have customised the $$LogInUserForm (added logos etc), and changed some of the Reason text on the $$ChangePasswordForm to better reflect user prompts and actions.

I would also like to change the Expired Password error messages to provide additional information to users. I have followed the instructions in the Domino Admin Help guide for "Mapping custom Web server messages "
2. Open the database that will store the customized messages.
You can store custom messages in DOMCFG.NSF or in any database on the server.
3. Using IBM® Lotus® Domino® Designer, create a form that contains the message you want to display, and save the form.
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each custom message. The forms can exist in the same database or in separate databases.
5. Select the Error & Response Mappings view and then click Add Mapping.
6. Do one of the following:
Choose "All Web Sites/Entire Server" to customize a message for all Web sites on the server.
Choose "Specific Web Site/Virtual Server" and enter the host name or IP address for the Web site. The custom messages will then only apply to the specified Web Site or virtual server.
7. (Optional) Enter a comment about the error message or response.
8. For each type of error or response, under "Target Database," enter the name of the database that contains the form you want to display.
9. For each type of error or response, under "Target Form," enter the name of the form you want to display.

In my case I have added a Target Form (design element) called "CustomExpiredErrorForm" which is the same form name as the recommended default in admin guide. This is in the DOMCFG.nsf not a separate "error messages" NSF.

But I am still getting the default expired error message "Your access has been restricted because your password is expired. Please contact your Administrator". Where does this message come from. The Reason Text field on the $$ChangePasswordForm" clearly states, "REM {Note that cases 3 and 7 don't really come through this form. They have corresponding error forms."
reasonType="3";"Your access has been restricted because your password is expired. Please contact your admin";
reasonType="7";"Your account has been locked out. Please contact your admin for more information";

Has anyone successfully managed to activate Custom Expired Password error messages.
What should the name of the form be ?
- should this be the design name of the form, or the name of an actual form created with a design element (form) to deliver the custom error message ?

This is really frustrating as I would expect this to be an easy task. What am I missing here. Really got me stumped. HELP !

Thanks in advance . . . Murray
